Air Head??

Poor Pitter…her headache has turned into a full-blown cold with a side of stomach flu.  Sigh…

Dassa is much better, and is twittering about like her usual self.  Yesterday, I found her looking in the mirror.  She was pressing her flashlight to her ear.  Being amused by this sight, and a bit curious as to what she was up to, I asked Dassa what she was doing.

"I wanted to see if the light came out my other ear."

Thank goodness it didn’t.

Pit~Pat has a rotten headache…I’m getting a bit concerned.  Should 9 year-olds have headaches?  Once or twice a month?  When she gets a headache, I call my mom and say, "Pitter is headaching…"  But it’s time to stop being cute and start looking into this.

Dassa, too, is down and out.  Trying to get better from a nasty cold.  Her poor little left eye is so sore.  Poor kid is the first person I’ve known to get a cold in her eyes.  Alas, it is Dassa’s vacation week.  A good time to convalesce.  A good time to bake!  Or…a good time to draw a picture about baking while convalescing:

Magical Easter…

This is what it’s all about.  Little girls whispering to each other in bed.  Anticipating what’s waiting (hidden though, they must find it!) downstairs.  Oh, such cuteness I heard this morning before I even got out of bed.  Then it’s all over too soon, the exclamations when they find their baskets, the rummaging, the "Look what I got!" over and over…and they settle in with their loot.  A bit of nagging about the candy.  "No, dears, let’s save it for later…7 am is a bit too early, I think."   These are magical times I must remember for the rest of my days…

Egads.  I taught at the preschool all week.  They lured me in with words like, "Lead Teacher Salary…" and I went for it.  Actually, there is no question that if they need me and I’m available, I’ll be there.  Usually, it is just a day or two here and there.  Manageable.  But this was five days.  In a row.  Now it is Saturday.  Tater has stitches in her hand (Monday’s event), Dassa has the tummy-flu, a cold, and a cut under her eye (Wednesday’s event, and ongoing…),  Pitter has hung in by the skin of her teeth, and Dan and I have shared what usually is easily taken care of by me.  So, extra stress for all, really.  Even the dogs seemed to be asking, "Where did everyone go??!!"  Not to mention that Tater and Pit-Pat’s overnight with their Pawbee ended abruptly when Pawbee came down with the stomach flu.  I am not joking when I say that EVERY time I work outside the home, it is a small (small?) disaster.

Today we will try to stabilize.  Pick up the house.  Not let anyone else get sick.  Deal with whatever fallout we find.  Play catch-up, too.  The day before Easter, we are coloring eggs:

All the little hands everywhere at once…the runny-nosed smiles…the bickering over who’s turn it is to use pink…policing the fairness of it all…

It is soooo nice to be back in our roles.  So very nice.

New Hitty took Bijoux outside for a walk about the garden.  She was hearing talk of Spring among th Hittys and wanted to see for herself.  Miss VanDroo requested that New Hitty come get her if she noticed anything.  "Behold!  Spring, Miss VanDroo!!!"

It is a chilly St. Patrick’s Day here, but yes, New Hitty has found a small, though not insignificant, sign of spring.  Bijoux truly enjoyed all the new smells the melted snow left behind.  "Please don’t let Bijoux eat the Snowdrops, New Hitty!"

Then Miss VanDroo quickly returned to the indoors.  She would have loved to linger, but it is just too brisk today to stay outside without her shawl.  Maybe tea is in order?

I guess you never know what tomorrow may bring…

I’ve been crazy about miniatures for a long, long time.  And now especially, I love the scale of Hitty.  Whereas *most* miniatures are sized 1:12, or one inch = one foot, Hitty is more along the lines of 1:10, or one inch = ten inches.  Tricky sometimes, at least at first.  But this slightly larger scale is so much fun to work with, as things in Hitty-Scale are just a bit easier to handle and a bit easier to make.  I like that!  It’s wonderful for the girls to play with also…

As a child, I used to stick my head inside my dollhouse and pretend that I was actually living in there.  I’d look around (to the best of my ability) and imagine what life must be like for my little doll who lived there.  Boy, was it cool!

With Hitty came the ‘discovery’ of Re-Ment.  Boy, oh, boy!!  Cool stuff!  All well suited in scale for Hitty.  I turned my nose up at first…it’s plastic after all, and how realistic can you make plastic?!  Silly me.  Now, my collection grows as my budget allows.  This week, I finally put it all in the same place:

I have to be careful, because Dassa LOVES miniatures (especially miniature food, and Re-Ment makes lots of that) almost to the point of  obsession.

She isn’t allowed to touch Mommy’s Re-Ment, but she has been promised her own for her birthday.

:::   Not that she doesn’t already have quite the miniature food collection going   :::
