Cute Quotes…Veteran’s Day Edition

Yesterday, Dassa arrived home from Kindergarten just bursting with newfound knowledge.

Dassa:  Tomorrow is Veterinarian's Day!  It's when we celebrate Veterinarians!
Me:  (turning my back…trying not to laugh out loud…)  Oh?
Dassa:  Emily A. says that Veterinarians are doctors that take care of animals.  But she's wrong about that.

Oh my!  I just didn't have the heart to tell her!

Veteran's Day

(Dassa also calls our President-Elect "The Rock" – I think that name's a keeper, yes?)

  1. Does she think he is Don “the rock” Johnson from THE GAME PLAN? I could kind of see that! What a cutie! You will be so happy someday that you have recorded all of these super cute and sweet things! I LOVE it!

  2. I have been reading through your blog and I must ask…..what is a hitty doll?

  3. Erin,
She hears Barack as “The Rock” for some reason. It cracks us up, and now we all call him that. (In the most respectful way.)
And thanks, Marilyn…She is a funny girl. I finally corrected her, but we still talked about “Veterinarian’s Day” all day yesterday. :o)
    Hi, Mandy!
So glad you enjoyed my blog. ‘What is a Hitty?” is the million-dollar question! :o)
Hitty is an antique wooden doll purchased by author Rachel Field and artist Dorothy Lathrop in the 1920’s. They proceeded to write a story about her, which won the Newberry Award and has been loved by many. The *Real* Hitty is on display in the Stockbridge, Massachusetts, USA library. There are many fans of Hitty…we carve, sew, write stories, etc. It’s really fun.
If you want to read more about her, this is a great starting point:
    Hitty.org
And also the book, (but be careful, as there is another Hitty book out that is not at all the same story.) The author is Rachel Field on the correct book.
    Take Care!
    Martha
