Sweet Pumpkin

Alas, Tater's Hamster, Pumpkin.  She was adorable with her dark gray body and little white feet.  Her feet were always a blurr as she scurried around, minding her hammie business.  Tater loved her so much.  In hindsight, all the drinking of water, and more recently the weight loss – ever so subtle – well…  Having researched online to find out what on EARTH could be wrong, I'm pretty certain it was diabetes.  What a sad but surprisingly common thing.  What a learning experience for Tater, who we don't call the *Hamster Whisperer* for nothing.

Final Resting Place

The good news is that there are two more *healthy* hamsters living here.  Pumpkin was one of those rare and special hamsters (yes, it's true, they do exist!) but Stumpy and Chippy are cute, too.  They could use some "Hamster Whispering."

  1. Dear Tater,
You certainly made a lovely resting place for Pumpkin and you will always remember her with love. I know that you are feeling sad now but it will get easier as time goes by and you will only remember the happy times with her.

  2. Losing pets is heartbeaking and I ‘well up’ at the thought, but perhaps it is better to have loved and lost…well you know the rest. My heart goes out to the girls, little Pumpkin will always be special.

  3. Dear Tater,
I’m so sorry about your little Pumpkin. My heart goes out to you and your sisters and I’ll be sure to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. I know you’ll always have your sweet memories of Pumpkin. What a precious and lovely box you made for her. Big hugs,

  4. Oh I’m so sorry for you Tater. I hope you are doing better now, it’s hard to lose a pet and a friend. Pumpkin was lucky to have been loved so much by you, and the box is lovely you made.
